My Walk to Work

I'm lucky enough to live very close to my office. My little town is very small so anywhere is close to my office. I love days when I'm able to walk and stop and look at the beauty surrounding me. This is what I found today....

The benches are new as well as the pedestrian crossing signals. We don't have a stop light so they decided to give us something to feel like we're in the 21st century. And it talks to you when you walk by. She has a lovely voice.

There Are No More Rules

And I'm so happy about it! You can do anything in decorating as long as you love it.

The recycling movement has impacted design on such a great level. Nothing is off limits. Keep your eyes open to all the everyday objects around you to see their hidden beauty. It sure has sparked my design imagination. 

 I'm loving this coffee table built from reclaimed bowling alley flooring. You have to see all their other recycling ideas. Awesome!

My Children The Artists

I am one of those parents that think their children are the most talented and most beautiful. I'm positive of it. Here are some recent art projects to prove my facts...

These are by my 15 yr old. She's awesome and I'm gently coaxing her to become a clothing designer. Gentle coaxing as in, "You WILL become a clothing designer!"

And this glorious piece is by my 13 yr old. She is obsessed with Sponge Bob. I don't mind at all because it is really funny to hear Sponge Bob quotes at church.

I Dream in Color (and Big Windows)

Another home added to my dream list. Good thing I don't have my dream home yet because then what would I dream about?

To Burlap or Not To Burlap?

What do you think of the burlap upholstery trend? I'm not so sure. I do love touches of it, like in the ottoman, below. And I like it as a "burlap look" fabric. But real burlap used in upholstery? Hmmmm, not so comfy. I'm not going to be cuddling up to a potato sack anytime soon and I'm not going to upholster my chair with it because it is the cool thing to do. Well, unless it's on a pillow. Then it will be cool.

Food labels are being used in decorating so often now. These pillows are the perfect mix of vintage and whimsy that give a room a little character.

I'm planning on doing my own version of the porcelain jars this weekend. I'm going to spray paint my collection of jars and bottles with flat white spray paint. I'm hoping they look fabulous!
