I found this horrible plastic wall hanging at a yard sale here in good ol' Parma. It was only $1.00. Who passes up something this garish for $1.00? It has this homely charm to it, don't you think? It's screaming to be a ridiculous color like hot pink or turquoise or lime green. We'll have to wait and see what transpires with my pitiful gold flower arrangement. Stay tuned for floral greatness!

Homemade Notepads
Quilting B
I started a collection of vintage quilts. They are so soft and the patterns and colors are always so great. The problem with this is that some of them have some holes or other damage but they are still beautiful and have a lot of use left in them. I'm trying to find different ways to use them, like: stuffed animals or dolls, memo boards, wall hangings, or pillow shams. Any other ideas? Here are some great examples I've found around the web...

Prairie Party
In honor of Pioneer Day I would love to throw a party just like this. Wouldn't it be so fun to celebrate all things from a much simpler way of life?

Kitchen Island
Here is the before of my kitchen island:
I bought this cabinet off of craigslist for $25. I was looking for a dresser to convert to an island but when I saw this, I knew it would work just as well with better storage for a kitchen. My dad helped by making a base to attach the industrial size wheels.
After:
We painted it black to match my table and chairs. The top will eventually be a butcher block but for now I just put a cutting board on top. It has been so nice to have the extra space since my counter top space is next to nothing.
We decided the inside needed a little touch of excitement and this color jumped out at us. I love the pink! It is so fun to open up my little island and have a bubble gum suprise.

My HUGE Birthday Party
I'm throwing myself a birthday party. I hope people come. My kids watch Fred on youtube and he has a skit where he throws a party and no one comes so he uses some mannequin heads as his party guests. It's actually quite hilarious. At the end of the clip Fred sings this: "If you're gonna throw a party, make sure you actually have friends!" So I made sure I actually had friends before I decided to throw myself this little party.
Now I get to decorate for my party. That's the fun part! Here are some ideas I have:

I love these banners. I think I'll stay with the red/white/blue colors, just muted.

The ranch would look great with these mason jar lanterns hanging from the trees.
I'm also going to spread a few of my vintage quilts around the lawn. I need to find some fun containers for food, maybe some of my wire baskets? And I need a rockin' playlist to keep the party hoppin'! Any song suggestions?
Stay tuned for my updates. And pray for amazing weather.
