It is time for me to learn how to make an apron. I have been wanting to do this for quite some time now and I will not wait any longer! I love the fancy, 1950's inspired hostess aprons and I have a few patterns I like. Here are some aprons I'm hearting...

Hats
I've always wanted to wear hats and look amazing. I have come to accept that that will not happen for me. When my hair was short I just looked like a cancer patient, and now that it's growing a little longer I still can't pull it off without looking like a farmer. Maybe it's because my head is the size of a small child's. No joking, I can wear my two year old's bike helmet, comfortably. I've tried through the years to pull it off but I think I've finally come to grips with the fact that it will never be. But if by some crazy chance that I one day look good in a hat, I want one like this...

This Is Where We Are Going Tonight
We are lucky enough to have an actual drive-in theater right in our little Idaho town. Tonight they are showing "Race to Witch Mountain" and "He's Just Not That Into You". Both of which I have seen but we have friends visiting. The drive-in movie experience is one that everyone needs to have. My kids love it and it's a very inexpensive treat. Kids under 11 are free and only $7 for a double feature! Can't beat that with a stick!!!
Have good weekend!

It's Starting to Come Together
Here is an update of my house...
At least my living room is taking shape. I feel more peace now when I'm home (except for the storage room that is my bedroom). When I start working on projects it makes me realize how little time to myself I really have. With full time work and all the kids' activities I'm happy to be home and thoroughly enjoy the quiet, peaceful moments. I think I took it for granted when I was a stay-at-home mom. But, oh how I loved staying home!

Room In Progress
Before I moved into my new place I had big plans. BIG plans. They included, but were not limited to: painting several pieces of furniture, making a ridiculous number of pillows, making a headboard, finding the exact pieces of furniture to have a fully organized home, and create peace and tranquility. So far this is what I've done...
One side table, partly primed. At this rate I will be finished in approximately 3 years. It's time to step up my game! And, Spring, you better get your crap together because I'm done with the cold! I've got projects!!!

Spending Hiatus
Have you heard of this yet? I think it's a new buzz word for 2009. Well, I'm trendy! I want to try it!!! Actually, I've been thinking of doing something like this for a while now. I need to get back to the basics and scale down my life, not that my life is extravagant by ANY means.
So, here is how my spending hiatus will work: No non-essential spending for 3 months. Let's define non-essential: Anything besides food and basic needs. (For me, basic needs includes finishing the decorating of my house. I already have the fabric I need for my pillows so anything else I need I'm going to make.) I'm going to purge my belongings as well. I have way too many clothes that I do not wear, even though I tell myself I do. My kids have enough toys to furnish a good-size toy store and they are old enough now that we can definitely get rid of a large majority of them. Craigslist is going to become my new bff. And any $$$ we make from the sell of our belongings is going into a summer-fun fund. And I guess I can down-size my crafting supplies. Seriously, how often do I do anything crafty anymore? And I'll be getting rid of anything else that is lying around that I am tired of stepping over. It's gone!
I'm really excited to start this. I've actually been preparing mentally for this for a bit now. I knew it wasn't something I could just jump into. Here are some other amazing bloggers that have preceded my endeavours...Simply Lovely, The Hip Homemaker, and The Happy Living Blog. They have been doing it for a while now and they have a lot of inspiration and great ideas.
I may slip up once in a while so everyone help keep me on track. I'm hoping my spending mind-set is altered after this adventure. Let me know if any of you are doing something similar. I love to get those comments!
